Resident Evil 7 is Aiming to Create a “4D” Gaming Experience.

Since its earliest attempts, Virtual Reality enthusiasts were aiming towards the creation of a complete immersive experience which utilizes the five major human senses. During the past few decades, the main focus of Virtual Reality has primarily consisted of improving the visual element since it was considered the most important part of the VR experience. And now that we finally can say that we have acceptable hardware to carry out the visual experience, it is time for some developers to shift part of their focus towards other key sensors in the human body. Like what CAPCOM seems to be experimenting on with the newest Resident Evil 7 video game.

The sense of smell has a tremendous effect on our perception as species and has been a key part in our sensory system for thousands of years. And personally I’ve always wondered why it has not yet been effectively incorporated in the VR experience. But today I’ve come across a news article by Niche Gamer presenting a candle designed by CAPCOM aiming towards utilizing a special ‘scent’ in order to promote the virtual gameplay experience of Resident Evil 7: An upcoming survival horror video game.

The first thing which came to my mind was, what a Resident Evil candle would smell like?! And honestly I could not come up with a single pleasant thought! Well, according to the article, the candle is supposed to provide a “foisty, old timber and blood”, which I am honestly not quite sure how this will turn out! ButI guess there is only one way to find out!

Candle or not, it would be safe to assume that Resident Evil 7 will provide an interesting survival gameplay experience. Resident Evil 7 is expected to be launched on January 24th on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC platforms.

Would you be willing to try the Resident Evil candle? If so what’re your expectations of it? Let us know in the comments below!
